HOW TO CHOOSE MY BAG SLEEPING ?

Your sleeping bag is your best ally for spending restful nights while campingWith so many models available, it's not always easy to make a choice. Several criteria can help you, such as lightness, comfort, and resistance to cold. Here you'll find all our advice for choosing the sleeping bag best suited to your needs.

SOME TIPS BEFORE YOU SLIP INTO YOUR SLEEPING BAG

To sleep comfortably in your sleeping bag and have nights as restful as in a real bed, here are some tips to follow before turning off the light!

– Dress simply. Usually, one layer of clothing is enough.

– Warm your extremities by wearing a hat, gloves, socks, or using hand warmers if necessary. A hot water bottle can be used as a hot water bottle (if there is no risk of it accidentally opening, of course!)

– Did you know that 70% of consumed energy is transformed into heat? By contracting your muscles, you can create a nice source of heat before falling asleep!

– You can also use a sleeping bag liner, ideally silk, to optimize the heat inside your bag

– And to find the same comfort as at home, don’t forget a little pillow!

1 - WHICH SLEEPING BAG SHOULD I CHOOSE DEPENDING ON THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE?

Another criterion to help you in your choice is the outside temperature. Whether you sleep in a house, in a tent in the summer in the south of France or in a tent in the mountains, your choice will be totally different.

Different temperature levels exist:

– from 0°C to 10°C: ideal for extreme cold or the mountains
– from 10°C to 20°C: ideal for summer evenings
– more than 20°C: ideal for home

It's up to you to choose your sleeping bag depending on temperature conditions in which you sleep. If, for example, you plan to buy a sleeping bag to sleep indoors in a house, a bag above 20°C will be ideal.

2- WHAT USE FOR YOUR SLEEPING BAG?: WEIGHT

The weight of your sleeping bag will depend on its use.

Sleeping bag or duvet for camping:

If you are setting up camp in a fixed location, we recommend that you prioritize the comfort of your sleeping bag. Therefore, this bag will be more bulky and heavierThe bags are rectangular and offer more space for easy turning and moving.
You can opt for models with materials softer like cotton and a greater sleeping width. You will thus be able to rediscover the comfort of a real bed!

“Sarcophagus” sleeping bag for bivouacking, hiking or trekking:

If you are going to camp carrying your tent and sleeping bag, we advise you to choose a lightweight and compact model. They usually come in a "sarcophagus sleeping bag" shape
It will be easier to slip into your backpack and less heavy to carry. Lightweight models are usually cut in a mummy cut for greater resistance to the cold. These bags often weigh less than 1 kg and their compression cover allows them to be reduced in volume so they can be transported easily.
